Duration: 1 year full-time.

This course will enable students to work as a member of a professional team in a variety of childcare settings including crèches, nurseries, playgroups, early start programmes or as Special needs Assistants (SNA's) in Primary and Post Primary Schools.

Entry Requirements

Leaving Certificate, Leaving Certificate Applied, or Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme.

Holders of a FETAC Level 4 award may also apply.  Mature students ie applicants over 23 year of age may be exempt from the above requirements.

Career Opportunities

On completion of the course students may work in a variety of settings including crèches, nurseries, playgroups, early start programmes and as classroom assistants in special schools.

Students can apply to Institutes of Technology and Universities for places on their courses through the Higher Education Links Scheme.
